Please note: any adapters purchased from this page are only compatible with the AeroCoach Ascalon extensions, and will be provided with bolts needed for assembly with Ascalon extensions
Ascalon extensions are attached to the base bar using either one of our proprietary adapters (e.g. Shiv TT disc brake), or standard tilt block adapters provided with base bar specific matched spacers and threaded bars (e.g. Giant Trinity Advanced). Some base bar adapters supplied are a combination of tilt blocks and other parts (such as extra width plates, due to the narrow mounting points on the base bar e.g. Cannondale Superslice). Please note some of the proprietary adapters increase reach, for exact specifications please see the carbon and titanium Ascalon pages. Warranty on Ascalon adapters is only valid when used with AeroCoach Ascalon extensions.
Adapter angle - tilt blocks and non-tilt adjustable adapters
For any adapters that include (tilt blocks) in the adapter type dropdown, the adapters provided to attach Ascalons to the base bar are our tilt block adapters, with either base bar-specific matched spacers and threaded bars, or universal matched spacers and threaded nuts. These are all provided in either 15, 20 or 25deg.
For any adapters that don't include (tilt blocks) in the adapter type dropdown, and aren't tilt adjustable, available adapter angles are 15, 20 and 25deg, unless otherwise specified.
Adapter angle - tilt adjustable adapters
Please note that for Trek Speed Concept (rim brake), Cervelo P5 disc / PX / P3X, Argon E119 Tri+ disc (monopost), Tririg Alpha One, Orbea Ordu OMX, Scott Plasma 6 and Ventum One adapters, the Ascalon adapter provided will give a 15deg base angle, which can be increased using the in-built tilt adjustment or aerobar manufacturer provided tilt wedges.
For Trek Speed Concept (disc brake), the Ascalon adapter provided will give a 21deg base angle, which can be reduced or increased by 7deg (to 14deg or 28deg) using the aerobar manufacturer provided tilt wedges.
The Cervelo P5 Disc Ascalon adapter requires a Cervelo EX10 monopost (not included). Angle is adjustable to 15, 22, 25 and 32deg. Minimum/maximum horizontal extension reach for long gripper Ascalons (Shimano 9160/SRAM eTap) is 350/410mm measured from the rear edge of the monopost, when set at 15deg. Minimum stack from the top of the base bar is 35mm higher than the EX11 post.
For 31.8mm clamps, these can be rotated around the bar to any desired angle.
For Canyon Speedmax CFR (monopost), adapters are available in 15 or 25deg, and are compatible with the angled wedges provided with the Canyon to fine tune these angles further.
For Cadex Tri, 15 and 25deg adapters are available, both of which are compatible with the 5deg wedges that come with the bike, so angles of 15, 20, 25 and 30deg are achievable.
All adapters are made from CNC aluminium, with some adapters being provided with additional base bar matched spacers, which are made from PA12 nylon.
The reach dimensions below of 255m-305mm apply when tilt block adapters are used to mount Ascalons to the base bar. For proprietary adapters, please use the adapter measurements (below) to the rear Ascalon bolt hole , and then add on 255-305mm to establish the reach characteristics. The shorter grippers (for Shimano 2 button Di2 and Campagnolo EPS) are approximately 40mm shorter than long grippers (but are used with longer shifters, resulting in a similar overall length). Hook grippers are 10mm longer than long grippers when both are used with R9160 shifters.
