The AEOX® Estoc wheel uses the world's first asymmetric aerodynamic rim shape for velodrome usage, resulting in the fastest non-disc front wheel in an environment where tiny margins make the difference between silver and gold.
DEVELOPMENT
The Estoc wheel features 4 deep bladed spokes integrated into an asymmetric rim. Nearly 2 years of development, prototyping and testing has enabled us to design a rim shape which not only performs well on the straights, but also on the bankings.
As the rider and bike move through the bankings, they experience angular airflow. Due to the lean angle of the rider, they subsequently experience yaw (and pitch) angles. The yaw angle can reach up to ~5deg in some instances, but the most common angles experienced overall are -1 to +3deg, and it is these angles that the AEOX® Estoc has been optimised for. See our data below for a comparison with other wheels.
DATA
This graph gives a comparison between the AEOX® Estoc and other spoked and composite spoked wheels. At high speeds (eg. 60kph) the difference between an AEOX® Estoc and other wheels is 0.04-0.18kph. This represents a power saving of 1.3-6.2w at 60kph.
USAGE
AEOX® Estoc wheels are ideal for bunch riding, individual sprint events and individual timed events alike.
