The AeroCoach AEOX® Orbit carbon disc brake tubeless/clincher disc provides exceptional aerodynamics and performance in an affordable, lightweight and UK made solution. With excellent lateral stiffness, it is built with custom carbon laminate sides, the unique Orbit aerodynamic design, a carbon clincher tubeless rim bed and 24 internal spokes for improved comfort over solid construction wheels. DEVELOPMENT
CFD, track and real world optimised, the AEOX® Orbit disc is the most aerodynamic disc brake disc available. The drive side and non drive sides have been correctly shaped to lower aerodynamic drag due to interactions between frames, cassettes and disc brake rotors. The wheel has been designed to work best with a large range of tyre makes, models and sizes: we recommend the use of 23-28mm tyres with AEOX® Orbit discs. COMPARISON DATA
This graph shows wind tunnel data comparing the AEOX® Orbit disc against a Roval 321 disc, HED Vanquish RCD & Zipp Super 9 disc, all mounted with a 25mm Continental GP5000 TR tyre inflated to 90psi. Test speed was 45kph, 140mm rotors were used on all discs.
TYRE WIDTH
The AEOX® Orbit disc is specifically designed to work with a large range of tyre shapes and sizes. Using a tyre of up to 28mm nominal width does not affect the aerodynamic drag of the wheel/tyre system, as the graph below shows (0.2w difference is within the measurement error of the wind tunnel).
INSTALLATION
The AEOX® Orbit disc is compatible with Shimano or SRAM 11/12 speed cassettes (please select a freehub option from the dropdown menu). For tubeless conversions we recommend using Zefal sealant which can be purchased with the wheel. Tubeless tyres must be set up by a professional cycling mechanic. Please note that the use of some aftermarket jockey wheel cages for derailleurs will reduce clearance with the disc sidewalls.DISC BRAKE
